Netbook Reflection 2012

It is cool when I started to having a netbook. It was easy to type with my netbook compared to books. When I write in my books my hand hurts. It is faster to do my work in my netbook.

It was a little bit hard to search for information because all the information is so different and I don't know which one is the right one. Sometimes the internet goes slow and I can't do my work. This makes me late doing my work. Sometimes my teacher re-images my netbook. I don't really like it because my pictures that I really need are gone after it has been re-imaged.

Next year I am hoping to learn new ways to find information to help me with my learning.

Tradition Hawaii Compost Recipe

The Haunted House

It was late at night, and it was dark. I was walking home by myself when I saw an astronomical, old house. It was kind of spooky and it had some green, moss-covered headstones in front of it. There was this gigantic gargoyle sitting on top of the spiked fence. It had red eyes the size of saucers and was a fearsome sight. I was scared so I tip-toed past the gate, then I heard a loud groan coming from inside the house. I didn’t want to go see what it was but, I couldn’t ignore that sound. There was no way I would go inside by myself so I went and got my two friends Anna and John.
I told them all about the spooky house. After that we all plucked up the courage to go and investigate. When we went inside the creepy house it was dark inside. We looked everywhere and didn’t see anyone, but when we went inside the last room at the end of the hall, there was a warlock. We hid behind some cupboards so the warlock couldn’t see us. He was making a potion. We had to try to get out but the warlock could turn at any moment and discover our hiding place. After 10 minutes, the warlock went out of the room and we  tip-toed out side. When we saw the warlock he turned and saw us! The warlock was trying to put a spell on us we ran and hid. Then we saw a 24 year old men hiding in the same place where we were hiding. He told us his name, his name was Sam he said that this house was his haunted house and he asked why we came here because everyone knows that this is a haunted house. After 1 minute we were talking about the haunted house, then the warlock got us. He put us on a room, he was trying to put a spell on us so we can get some other people. He first tried to put a spell on John first for a little while, I remember I came with a knife,I used the knife to cut the rope. I was waiting for the warlock so I can kill it. I waited for the warlock for a little while then the warlock came back, he was making a potion while he was making the potion, I tip-toed and I killed the warlock then we were saved, and we all went back home and we will never tell anyone about the haunted house.

Mara Kai on Mangere Mountain

On Tuesday 24th July the senior school, rooms 5,7 and 8
went on a trip to Mangere Mountain to learn about Mara Kai, and to learn about how to grow plants traditionally (in the past). We learned about the food that the Maori people came with from their islands.

Farrell greeted us and he told us about the history of  the local iwi. Hape rode a giant stingray (Kaiwhare) from Hawaiiki and how his tribe carried their waka from Tamaki Estuary, to Mangere and we learned, about gardening tools called ko and timotimo (a traditional Maori spade and weeding tool.)
Then we were split to three group we went and learnt how the Maori people made tools and we learned how to use the tools for gardening. We even learned about mararongoa (medicine garden). We even learned about Kawakawa. Kawakawa is a plant leaf that Maori use as medicine. It numbs your mouth when you have a toothache.

After that we went inside and ate our lunch. After we finished our lunch we went and climbed the mountain. When the bus came we went inside the bus then we went back to school.
